Dear Collabs,
“The company is your home.” I always see this saying as manipulative and threatening – reins and whip pushing employees to work harder… until I joined The Collaborators, a company owned by just 13 employees. They taught me what this truly means.
We all want to work somewhere we feel comfortable and the desire for a flexible workplace is surging. Behind the scenes is a generational shift that coincides with a broader movement towards "purpose-driven" work. People are longing for “work-life balance”. Especially my generation, we are less motivated by financial compensation alone and more by jobs that align with our personal values and provide a sense of meaning.
Finding a place where I belong – that was my initiative to go abroad and explore the world. Back home, I have always been the “problem kid". I like to question things and go my own way! A lot of times in my life, I have struggled to find my identity – to find people “like” me, or to find a place that allows me to be myself.
To The Collaborators, thank you for supporting me to be myself, to act like me, to think like me. Having that level of freedom in the workplace is what I would truly call “home.”
Yours sincerely,
Shell
