Each month we pick three things that have inspired us. From art, design and branding, to food, drink and beyond… Welcome to the July edition.

1. Spirited Away at the London Coliseum

Ruth writes:

A spectacular theatrical adaptation of Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away has arrived at the West End’s London Coliseum.

Hayao Miyazaki's Oscar-winning film is beloved worldwide for its captivating storytelling and stunning visuals, but reimagining the tale for the stage is no small feat!

The story follows Chihiro, a young girl who stumbles into a fantastical realm of spirits, gods and magical creatures. Bringing the surreal and magical nature of Spirited Away to life on stage is a huge challenge, but this production delivers with innovative set designs, vibrant costumes and dynamic performances - all set to Joe Hisaishi's magnificent score performed live.

For fans of the film and anyone looking to be dazzled, this is a must-see. But be quick to grab tickets - it's only showing for a limited season!

2. Nike: Winning Isn't For Everyone

With the Olympics in full swing, Nike’s new summer campaign entitled “Winning Isn't for Everyone” caught our eye this month. Created by Wieden+Kennedy, it embraces the fierce competitive spirit and determined mindset needed to achieve victory. Inspiration came from top athletes like LeBron James, Serena Williams, and Sha'Carri Richardson, who shared their personal motivations and relentless drive to win.

The film, narrated by Willem Dafoe in his distinctive and intense voice, highlights traits like single-mindedness, selfishness, and obsession – qualities usually seen as negative but that are essential in elite sports.

The campaign marks a departure from the more inclusive sports ads we've seen in recent years, instead boldly celebrating the raw, unfiltered pursuit of excellence.

We can’t help but be struck by the dramatic visuals and the compelling message. Its an ad that makes you reflect on your own personal drive and admire the commitment of those who excel.

3. Pukpip

Finding a snack that’s healthy, indulgent, and sustainable can feel like a challenge. That’s why we were very excited to hear about Pukpip.

Pukpip takes imperfect bananas – those rejected for export due to minor blemishes or odd shapes – and turns them into delicious frozen fruit snacks with a chocolate twist. They even upcycle their leftover banana peels to reduce waste.

Since launching in 2023, Pukpip has grown quickly, securing spots in major retailers like Ocado. With its joyful branding and unique offering, Pukpip has disrupted the ice cream and snacking market and proven that getting your five-a-day can be fun, tasty, and convenient.
