Butcombe Brewing Co. was founded in 1978, a time of cultural, social and political change, way before well-crafted beer was even called craft beer. Years of brewing experience had not dampened the team’s passion for creating original stand out products at the brewery, but over time the branding had lost some of its naturally eclectic personality. It was also losing relevance with a younger audience.
We refocused brand strategy with the idea ‘born to stand out’, injecting more meaning and Bristol provenance into the overall identity and brand world, whilst giving each product in the portfolio its own distinct look and feel. From a simple and classic update for Original, to a more urban youthful rebrand for Bohemia, every brew has an individual story to tell.
Launched as the hospitality sector came out of lockdown, Butcombe pubs saw like-for-like sales growth of 26% versus 2019 (pre-pandemic).
