The Classic Method Hallmark

Wines of Great Britain (WineGB) and Sarah Abbott MW were on a mission to establish English and Welsh classic method sparkling wine as one of the great wines of the world. With an influx of different sparkling wine styles on the market, they wanted to clearly differentiate classic method as the luxury flagship sparkling wine style of Great Britain.

We knew that to create a quality assurance mark conveying the highest levels of craft and quality, it would need to be elevated above the usual wine accreditation symbols. We looked to luxury iconography to explore more evocative design solutions, resulting in an abstract representation of quintessential rolling British countryside and the intersection of craft, time, climate and soils.

We created a hallmark that works across a host of touch points, from packaging and merchandise to physical spaces and digital applications. All the while, exuding timeless elegance and understated British luxury.

This campaign has set us on the the path to ensure that our classic method wines are more positively recognised among the finest wine regions in the world.

We had to elevate the classic method mark above usual wine association symbols which tend to be very literal. Instead we looked to the world of luxury, exploring more evocative and abstract ideas to communicate the unique qualities of English and Welsh classic method.
